We are delighted that we have been joined by two new members of the management team from June. Chris Walker (right) has joined as our new Chief Executive and Dom Furby (left) as our Deputy Chief Executive.
Chris, who lives in Halifax with his wife (and baby on the way), has been a trustee for SmartMove for the last two years and has put his experience in both the private and public sector to use in driving our strategy forward. Chris’s experience includes working in manufacturing and sales before moving to the Department for Work and Pensions in Leeds and London to work in business analysis, service improvement and external relations. Chris had the following to say about his appointment:
“I’m thrilled to be joining SmartMove as the new CEO in our 20th year. During my time as a trustee I’ve seen the dedication and excellence delivered by everyone at SmartMove so when the opportunity arose to pick up the reigns it was a no-brainer for me. Stuart and the team have done a fantastic job over the years and it is amazing to have such a solid base to work from. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of the wonderful staff, partners and supporters in the coming months and lead the charity into the next 20 years.”
Joining Chris in the management team is Dom Furby. Dom who also lives in Halifax with his wife and 4 children, has recently retired from the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as assistant divisional commander. He has many years of charity and community fundraising experience under his belt in Calderdale and was recently awarded an MBE for his tireless efforts.
We wish both Chris and Dom the best of luck for the future.
