Stay safe and look after each other

Update on our response to the Covid19 Outbreak

Due to the present pandemic it is vital that SmartMove look after our staff, volunteers and clients to the best of our capability. This means following government advice from the daily updates and evidencing social distancing. With immediate effect, all of our services will be telephone based until further notice. Our phone lines are still open and we will continue to support both new and existing clients. For obvious reasons, we have had to cancel all our group educational offerings.

In situations of crisis, including need of emergency food provisions, clients are advised to please speak with their support worker and we will endeavour to drop outside your home at a prearranged time.

It has been estimated today that the charity sector will lose a catastrophic £4 BILLION over the coming 12 weeks. We therefore need your support now more than ever.

- £5.00 will buy a pack of basic food and hygiene goods for someone in crisis.

- £10.00 will buy essentials to start a new home - kettle or toaster and cutlery.

- £20.00 will buy a tent and essential items for someone who is rough sleeping.

- £50.00 will buy a microwave and a cupboard full of food. 

We understand that funds are going to be tight for everybody in what is an unprecedented situation for our country. Anything you can spare to support our vulnerable clients would be hugely appreciated. We need to ensure we can continue to provide them with the food and other basic essentials that the rest of us take for granted. Our clients already feel lonely, isolated and extremely sad when they come to us. This pandemic will only exacerbate those feelings for them. Help us to show them that Calderdale cares. 

Lastly, a big THANK YOU, not only to our superb team who make us proud every day, but to the other front line staff and all the supermarket workers who can’t work from home.
