Calderdale SmartMove > Accessibility

The Easy Stuff
For those who are not familiar with all of the Accessibility Options on different laptops, desktop devices etc, we have tried to make this website easy to use for people with varying degrees of visual ability.

On most computer systems, just pressing (Ctrl) (+) should increase text size,

Also, pressing (Ctrl) (-) will decrease text size.

This can also achieved by pressing (Ctrl) and rotating the mouse wheel to increase or decrease text size.

On each page on this site you can increase the text size or turn the page in to high contrast mode which should make reading easier for a wide range of individuals.

The Technical Stuff
Since the introduction of the Government Equality Act 2010 UK websites have to comply with this act, although no definite guidelines have been given.

We want our website to be accessible to everyone that uses it. The Website Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develop guidelines widely regarded as the international standard for Web accessibility.

We are aiming to use the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 standards and recommendations as a guide.

We aim to have many pages meeting the Double-A or Triple-A levels as soon as is practically possible.
